Julie Ann Garrido Menopause Yoga expert launches YouTube Channel for practicing online yoga at home

Empowering women: Bringing Menopause Yoga to YouTube

Feb 15, 2024

Et voilà, I’ve finally launched my very own YouTube channel which is something that I’ve been avoiding for a very long time. Oops, did I say avoiding? Yes, that’s right. I said avoiding. Surely empowering women by bringing menopause to YouTube would be a key part of my marketing strategy. Err….no, not really. Quite the opposite in fact. So why do it now? Read on to find out more.

The power of yoga for menopause:

My mission has always been to spread the word about the powers of yoga for menopause yoga with an ambitious aim to reach 1 million women worldwide. Almost 3 years ago, I created a dedicated menopause support group, Yoga for Menopause, which has successfully grown to a community of 3,000+ women who are all keen to learn how yoga can alleviate their menopause symptoms. This led me to launch my popular online membership yoga platform for women who prefer to practice yoga at home with myself. From taking their first steps on the mat, many have transformed their lives with less menopause symptoms and more vitality and wellbeing. To date, it’s been amazingly successful and many of my members go on to attend my popular menopause wellness retreats. But it hasn’t reached 1 million women….yet.

Why choose YouTube channel for menopause yoga?

Over the last three years, I’ve been observing the different powers that social media channels have in reaching people and it’s not Facebook, Instagram, or blogs that are winning the race – it’s YouTube. Not only is YouTube now the second-largest search engine in the world after Google, it’s an excellent platform for building authority and creating an educational resource. Plus, it can also create a supportive community of dedicated subscribers. Therefore, what better way to help me reach a global audience and achieve my mission?

So, why had I been avoiding YouTube?

Aside from the sheer hard work of having to run a new and separate channel, the world of social media can be brutal. YouTube is public and I’d always been put off by not being able to control who sees my videos and having to deal with any negative feedback and criticism. Plus, the thought of adverts accompanying my videos, either at the start or during, just didn’t sit well with me. But the time had come to bite the bullet. The global reach and sheer accessibility of YouTube had won me over and the overwhelming opportunity to empower women with menopause yoga was too tempting to resist any longer. My very own YouTube channel was launched in January 2024.

What does my menopause yoga channel offer?

Primarily, the aim of my channel is to provide a platform where I can educate and inform women about the power of yoga in menopause. For a digital space as vast as YouTube, there is surprisingly very little credible information out there about yoga for menopause. Of course, there are plenty of yoga teachers teaching some aspects of it, some of whom unfortunately don’t have the necessary qualifications to do so. I aim to be a respected and trusted source of information and advice who will empower women to try this wonderful natural solution which can alleviate their menopause symptoms.

My educational videos largely centre around yoga's ability to alleviate specific menopause symptoms such as anxiety, brain fog, hot flashes, fatigue, insomnia etc as well as offering tips and advice to manage these symptoms via yoga, meditation, natural supplements, mindset, and lifestyle changes.

In addition, the channel will also feature content that provides steer and advice for women starting yoga at home and looking to build a sustainable yoga regimen. From which yoga mat to buy and which time of day to practice, to which style of yoga best improves symptoms and how to overcome roadblocks in their practice, this will help women feel more empowered in their home yoga practice. It will also feature selected yoga content too including; classes, short sequences, tutorials, and our popular 5 day challenges.

Conclusion:

Since becoming a menopause yoga teacher, my mission has never wavered. It’s become both my passion and my purpose. Yoga saved my life and it’s already helping countless others too. Not every woman can take HRT and not every woman wants to. So, given that few doctors, if any at all, will ever prescribe yoga for menopause, it’s become my job to prescribe it via my channel.

About Julie Ann Garrido:

For over 30 years, Julie successfully ran her own PR company until her menopause symptoms took hold and turned her world upside down. Not only was she physically exhausted, she suffered with low moods, negative thinking, loss of confidence, self-limiting beliefs, and crippling anxiety. She became a person she no longer recognised and simply wanted to hide away.

Unhappy with a medical approach to menopause, she turned to yoga to alleviate her struggles, and at the age of 53, she found the natural solution she’s had been searching for.

After regularly practicing short bursts of yoga at home, she noticed that many of her symptoms were vanishing. She had more energy, she slept better, her confidence retuned, she felt more in control, and no longer hobbled around with joint pain.

Realising that menopausal women felt uncomfortable with their size and shape, and didn’t have the confidence to attend a yoga studio, she was determined to bring menopause yoga to their homes - yoga that would easily fit into busy schedules, and that would take women on a journey to wellbeing and transformation in menopause. Moreover, she wanted women to enjoy a natural menopause like she did.

Julie developed My Yoga Journey, an online platform for women to access affordable, beginner-friendly menopause yoga from the sanctuary of their own homes.

The success of My Yoga Journey is nothing short of astonishing. As well as introducing yoga to countless women who have significantly improved their symptoms, it has helped them transform their lives as a result of their new-found confidence and energy. Many of her members go on to join Julie regularly at her menopause wellness retreats.

“My mission is simple: I want every woman to know that there’s an effective natural solution for menopause. It doesn’t have to be HRT.
